Tytoosie benefits from the artistic influence of both sides of his family tree. His mother, uncles, brothers and grandmother are all artists. His grandfather on his father”s side was sculptor Kabubuwa Tunnillie who was a significant influence: “My grandfather always said not to give up in life even though people do. I have had many relatives who killed themselves. He knew that, and he used to talk to us and remind us not to be mean to others. He used to tell me to smile a lot and that’s what I try to do.”
