This superb suite of prints is the result of a unique project undertaken by Paul Machnik of Studio PM in Montreal. During the winter of 2000/2001, Machnik travelled to eight Arctic communities not currently involved in printmaking. Making use of a portable press, he held workshops and encouraged many who had never tried printmaking to participate. The works of six artists from each community were selected for editioning. The result is a dynamic collection of prints with a great breadth of imagery by a wide range of young and older artists from Rankin Inlet, Igloolik, Hall Beach, Pond Inlet, Clyde River, Arctic Bay, Kimmirut and Qikiqtarjuaq (Broughton Island). The set consists of 48 prints (6 each from 8 communities) presented in a hand-crafted wooden storage case, plus a special millennium print by Kenojuak Ashevak of Cape Dorset. The suite is available at $7,500.00 CDN.
