ART BY WOMEN was a large exhibition of sculpture, drawings,
prints and wall hangings created by Inuit women artists. The show provided
an opportunity to review work by famous artists now deceased - including
work by Lucy Qinnuayuak, Mary Pudlat and Joy Hallauk - while investigating
contemporary work by established female artists such as Oviloo Tunnillie,
Irene Avaalaaqiaq and Kenojuak Ashevak. Emerging artists were also highlighted,
including Shuvinai Ashoona, Meelia Kelly and Gloria Putumiraqtuq. |
