This catalogue was published to coincide with the exhibition The Ryan Collection: Early Cape Dorset Sculpture, held at Feheley Fine Arts in 1998. The catalogue provides an overview of Ryan's private collection, acquired during his years of residence in Cape Dorset where he has worked with the Inuit artists since 1960. The text includes Ryan's reminiscences of earlier times with the artists of this settlement, many of whom have become widely acknowledged as among the great masters of Inuit art. Biographies are included for the 32 artists whose works are illustrated.
