This book was published to coincide with a large exhibition held at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in 1994. It illustrates the diverse work of 9 superb Inuit women artists: Kenojuak Ashevak, Mayoreak Ashoona, Pitseolak Ashoona, Qaunak Mikkigak, Lucy Qinnuayauak, Pitaloosie Saila, Oviloo Tunnillie, Napachie Pootoogook, and Oopik Pitsiulak. Interwoven with informative text and essays by the curators, the artists' reminiscences of their lives and their interpretations of their art offer a unique and first-hand insight into the voices and visions of these remarkable female artists.
