JACOPOSIE TIGLIK (1952 - )

Jacoposie Tiglilk was born in 1952 at Illutalik camp. His mother died when he was ten and he moved to Pangnirtung to live with other family members. It was there that he became interested in art through watching his uncle and mentor, Lypa Pitsiulak, create prints and sculptures. Jacoposie took on these interests as well and joined the Pangnirtung print shop when he was in his early twenties. His preferred subject matter for both prints and sculpture are birds. His sculptures are most often in stone, however he has expanded his talent to ivory and antler as well. Whether sculpture, prints, or drawings, Jacoposie's compositions are often graceful and elegant.
