Joe Talirunili was one of the founding members of the Purivnituq print shop, along with his cousin, artist Davidialuk. Talirunili's graphics were included in the Puvirnituq annual print collections throughout the 1960s. He was responsible for over seventy prints in his lifetime including eight in the first annual print collection released from the community in 1962. Talirunili also worked as a sculptor in the 1960s and 1970s, and one of his sculptures was reproduced on a 1978 Canadian postage stamp. Talirunili is perhaps best known for his totemic sculptures of hunters, owls and scenes of traditional boat migration from his childhood memories. His works are extremely sought-after on the secondary market today.
